Regularly there are incidents where sites have been tested but faults not corrected. It’s vital to understand that fixed wire installation testing (EICR) is only part of the electrical safety compliance requirement. If the essential remedial work are not complete following testing, then the organisation could be liable of fault and negligence. It’s likely that insurance for the site would be compromised and if the worst should happen then it could be proven that the Duty Holder was also liable.
We see a lot of customers who have had an EICR that has created “remedial works” which are not actually required to take place. This may be due to when the system was installed and it was correct at the time i.e. correct to the 15th/16th/17th edition of BS7671. Not all remedial work necessarily needs to be done in order to obtain a “satisfactory” certificate. As long as we can prove no overload and safe disconnection will occur, these are the main items that would be considered to deem the system safe. This is where we can save you money, by using our years of experience, we can advise the most cost effective way to achieve a “satisfactory” certificate result.
From a large business to any other small business or home owner we totally understand the importance of cash flow and not wanting a huge bill to correct failed units or if you are having any alteration plans on the horizon.
